Dem Uses Addicts As Phoney Support Base

Josh Rales, a Democratic candidate for Maryland's U.S. Senate seat, paid a drug-treatment center in Baltimore to drive its recovering addicts to last week's debate in College Park, where they held signs supporting his campaign.
About 20 patients from the I Can't, We Can (ICWC) drug-treatment and counseling center in northwest Baltimore attended the debate, said Adrian Harpool, president of the 21st Century Group, a Baltimore public-relations firm hired by the Rales campaign to recruit volunteers.

Now, that is INTERESTING. I always wondered where all those people with signs came from.

Democrats need support from the drug rehab people. Furthermore, I think if the Democrats could figure a way to get all the prison inmates and felons to vote, they would have a real solid voting block. Good post. Take care.

T.L. makes a good point here - Plus it would have been more environmentally friendly had they used felons at the rally. They could have saved fuel by having a one way trip.

I can see it now. All of 'em dropping the signs and making a run for it.

I am sorry and although I am not a dem I believe the problem is politicians. Dems and Reps serve their own interest pocketing as much as possible without truly representing "We the people".

Personally I would like to see a representative government from the working world. Someone who may not have the same ideas I do but that will vote in the best interest of the people he represents.

I know is is difficult and probably just fantasy but my next vote goes for Mickey Mouse!

I'll admit this story is odd, but what exactly is your point? Drug addicts dont deserve a political voice? If that's your point I agree, lets get druggy limbaugh off the air.

I just dont see what your point is, politicians can spend their campaign money any legal way they wish. paying for transport of folks who probably feel ostracized and without a voice in their society is probably a good thing, they know they can have a voice, and they get to participate in the politics of the society they live in. What's the problem?

Joe, the drug addicts would happily have gone and held signs for whomever paid them to do so. Thats the point. They were PAID for their support, they didnt call his campaign HQ and ask, 'how can we help?'.

If a thousand people showed up outside Rush Limbaugh's studio holding signs that say, "WE SUPPORT YOU! WE LOVE YOU RUSH!!" and then you found out that Rush paid all of them to be there, you would be the first one screaming that Rush has no integrity.

Maybe you are right, but the campaign didnt pay the drug addicts to hold signs, the campaign paid to transport them to the event. maybe you should read the article again.
