Clooney Is A Liberal? Who Would Have Thunk It?

Academy Award Winner and 1997's Sexiest Man Alive, George Clooney posts a blog for the HuffPo today titled:
I Am Liberal. There, I Said It!

He relays the same old cliched line, "
We have to agree that it's not unpatriotic to hold our leaders accountable and to speak out."

Nobody has ever said you are unpatriotic to speak out, George. What isnt considered very patriotic is to hear Americans say things like, "We are the real terrorists", or "we deserve this", or " we cant win". Those statements are a lot different than simply disagreeing with the president. They are by definition unpatriotic.

George continues,
"In 2003, a lot of us were saying, where is the link between Saddam and bin Laden? What does Iraq have to do with 9/11? We knew it was bullshit. Which is why it drives me crazy to hear all these Democrats saying, "We were misled." It makes me want to shout, "Fuck you, you weren't misled. You were afraid of being called unpatriotic.""

Yes, George, it is indeed 'bullshit' that Democrats now claim they were mislead. Its also bullshit for you to make the claim that no connection exists between Saddam, Iraq, and Al Qaeda, to claim, "We knew it was bullshit".

Really? How did you know it was bullshit, George? Are you some sort of expert on foreign policy? Did you have some inside classified information at the time that made you 100% sure that it was bullshit? Or were you just talking out of your ass and repeating the same old stale lines from The Left?

Since the fall of Saddam, we have had incredible access to millions of files held by the former regime. A connection between Saddam and Al Qaeda is certainly emerging.

"On February 26th, 1993 the first world trade center was attacked by al-Qaeda and the EIJ (really two organizations that cooperated in 1993 and eventually merged).

A month later an official from EIJ was meeting with Saddam in Baghdad.

We have a document showing Saddam authorizing the IIS to “provide technical support” to the EIJ, and by extension, al-Qaeda.

And then al-Qaeda and the EIJ attacked the U.S. on September 11th, 2001 led by an Egyptian Jihadist, Mohammed Atta."
The author of this is Ray Robison.
Ray Robison is a Sr. Military Operations Research Analyst with a defense contractor at the Aviation and Missile, Research, Development, Engineering Command in Huntsville, Alabama. His background includes over ten years of military service as an officer and enlisted soldier including the Gulf War and Kosovo operations. Most recently he worked as a contractor for DIA with the Iraqi Survey Group. He holds a B.S. degree in Biology, Pre-med from the University of Tampa and is a graduate of the Combined Arms and Services Staff School.

Another very interesting article in the Weekly Standard, July 18, 2005 | Stephen F. Hayes & Thomas Joscelyn, titled "Mother of All Connections" lays out in some detail the connections between Saddam and Al Qaeda. Regarding the much touted 9/11 Commission report, they report:

It assumed, not unreasonably, that the 9/11 Commission's conclusion was based on a firm foundation of intelligence reporting, that the intelligence community had the type of human intelligence and other reporting that would allow senior-level analysts to draw reasonable conclusions. We know now that was not the case.

John Lehman, a 9/11 commissioner, spoke to The Weekly Standard at the time the report was released. "There may well be--and probably will be--additional intelligence coming in from interrogations and from analysis of captured records and so forth which will fill out the intelligence picture. This is not phrased as--nor meant to be--the definitive word on Iraqi Intelligence activities."

The authors conclude:
After reviewing these documents you have to believe there was significant collaboration between Iraq and al Qaeda. Or you have to inhabit a universe in which there will never be a demonstrable connection between any of the terrorist attacks the world has suffered over the past dozen years, or any tyrant and any aspiring terrorist. In that fantasyland, all such phenomena are independent events."

The point is, George, you are talking out of your ass. You dont know whether its bullshit or not, its just something you have always wanted to believe, and you will continue to believe it even if there is proof positive. Join the rest of the lemmings, George, they are preparing to make another leap.

p.s. I love George's movies. I think he is an excellent actor, our generations Cary Grant. Toss out 'Solaris' and he's been stellar.

(EDITORS NOTE: As of March 15, it has been brought to our attention that Clooney did not write the blog. It was fabricated by the HuffPo and passed off as a Clooney blog)
